Production of biodiesel from grease waste
The purification of waste fats produces a mixture of fatty acids and fats of different compositions, depending essentially on the provenance of the waste. These mixed fatty acids can only be used to a very limited extent in the conventional biodiesel production processes, in which mainly vegetable oils serve as raw materials. In contrast, the process we have designed, which has already been successfully applied on an industrial scale, allows the use of fatty acid mixtures of any composition obtained from waste - a decisive step forward in the effort to conserve natural resources. In addition to the use of a larger number of fatty acids of widely differing compositions, the more cost-effective plant technology is a further advantage of this esterification technology.
